ANNOUNCING BREAKTHROUGH’S NEW HEAD OF STRATEGY & PROGRAM!
He is “one of the most influential black writers and thinkers of our time—a beautiful, intentionally complex feminist activist writing liberatory futures,” says prominent activist Janet Mock. He has been named one of Ebony magazine’s Power 100, The Root 100 and Planned Parenthood’s 99 Dream Keepers. His new book, No Ashes in the Fire, is an O Magazine top book of the summer.
All that, and he is Breakthrough’s new Head of Strategy & Program. It is my immense pleasure to introduce to you the newest member of our U.S. team: Darnell L. Moore.
Darnell’s mission is to transform society by ending the intersecting injustices of gender-based violence, racism, LGBTQI discrimination, and the other structural forces that keep people on the margins. He has worked behind and in front of the camera, in media and academia. A columnist at LogoTV.com and NewNextNow.com and co-managing editor at Feminist Wire, he also served as an editor-at-large at CASSIUS and a contributor to Mic, where he hosted the digital series The Movement. His writing has appeared in Ebony, The Advocate, Vice, The Guardian, and many more. A writer-in-residence at the Center of African American Religion, Sexual Politics, and Social Justice at Columbia University, he has taught at NYU, Rutgers, Fordham, and Vassar. He also trained at Princeton Theological Seminary.
So, we’ve got a real dream team here. Together, our dedicated and inspiring CEO, Sohini Bhattacharya, our COO Marc Sokol, and Head of Strategy & Program Darnell Moore will collaborate to take Breakthrough’s U.S. program to new levels of visibility and impact—and bring us all closer to our shared vision of the world we want to live in.
Please join us in welcoming Darnell. We hope you’ll have the chance to meet him soon. We can’t wait to see where the U.S. goes next with the combined leadership of Darnell, Sohini, and Marc.
